This is NUTS.......

I read this in The Star this morning and it made my day.

"Hamilton Naki, unacknowledged because he was black and had no medical degree, actually removed the heart of a young white woman in 1967 and, for hours, meticulously prepared it so that Christiaan Barnard could transplant it into an elderly white man, the first time the procedure was done in a human.
Barnard became the most famous doctor in the world, a hero, and Naki took the bus home to a township shack that had no electricity or running water.
Barnard admitted in 2001 before he died that Naki was probably better technically than he was and more deft at stitching up
."
